Grooveline was formed in 1992 when five Los Angeles musicians formed to pay musical tribute to the funky sounds of the 70s complete with polyester suits, eight inch afros and John Travolta dance moves. The band’s show has had a loyal following at San Francisco’s DNA Lounge for a number of years and has appeared on local and national television programs. Described as hilariously creative and surprisingly authentic with superb vocals and outstanding musicianship, the group hits every beat of 70s verve, from Rick James to Chic, with plenty of sequins and booty shaking energy. These four musicians change outfits and hair doos and come out as the M-80’s. The M-80’s, like their signature 70’s band The Grooveline, pay homage to the outrageous fashion and music of a not so distant era. Definitely an alternative to the typical party band, the M-80’s perform a variety of 80’s gems such as Thomas Dolby’s “She Blinded Me With Science” and Toni Basil’s “Oh Mickey”. The M-80’s boisterously entertaining presence, show stopping costumes and energetic break dancing is a truly entertaining recreation of 80’s pop.
The Grooveline has performed for all event sizes from intimate weddings to 70,000 football fans at the 1998 NFC Championship Game in San Francisco. The Grooveline especially prides themselves on corporate event entertainment. From the “9 to 5″ employee, all the way up to the CEO, Grooveline guarantees a fun time for all, making all attendees feel like part of the show. Whether your choice is the “larger than life” four piece ensemble, or the “Las Vegas” style show, featuring horn section, keyboards, percussion, and live dancers, you can be rest assured that you will be getting a fun, interactive, and above all, professional show, guaranteed to make your event a memorable one.
